Great turnout with eight Level 1’s & seven Level 2’s. Cold & breezy conditions gave us a little discomfort but not so much that we didn’t have a great, fun day at the range.
Much thanks to John & Kathy Kiwacka for setting up our first stage which was a pistol-only event requiring shooters to shoot lots of steel while moving from barricade to barricade. Proved to be a tough challenge for most all of us.
Next, back up to the main range for a speed shoot with both guns on a string of 10 steel plates and doing it twice for a two-run combined score. Jeff Lewis put on an amazing show on this stage with a total time of 26.25 secs. For comparison, the next closest time was a 37.56. Jeff’s run looked like a winning segment from “Shooting USA” or “American Rifleman”.
Finished up the match with a combo shoot using pistol on steel at 35 yds and flying clays for the shotgun. Had hoped to have a man/man event but time caught up with us so we’ll have to save that one for next month.
Level 1: 1st-Jerry Lock, 2nd-Dennis Jennings, 3rd-Wayne Broome, 4th-Gerald Lambert
Level 2: 1st-Jeff Lewis, 2nd-Billy Haynes, 3rd-Dick Williams, 4th-Jeremy Cheek
Thanks to the Kiwackas, Jerry Lock and everyone for working so diligently inĀ all phases of running the match. Especially good to have Billy Haynes, Danny Coggin and Wayne Broome back in the competition today.
I’ll be back in touch soon with an update on next month’s rifle/pistol match.
Stay safe & enjoy your range time,
Dick
