Action Shoot – Dec 2016 Match Results

Cold day, light turn-out but always a good day to be shooting with friends while Wayne, Bob & Doug worked all day cleaning up for the rest of us. Many thanks to them and to all the folks who give us a great place to enjoy our favorite sport.

Started off with a stage using all three guns on steel, paper and clay targets; basically a warm-up session to get the shooter applying his weapon transition as well as reloading- under- pressure skills.

Next, Billy Haynes set up his shotgun/only stage with three clay “pop-up” contraptions, a revolving centrifugal-force target and a new series of clay target holders all designed to test our shoot, move, reload and plan ahead abilities. This stage was so exciting and challenging that most of us had  another go at it just to see why we were basically pitiful the first time around. Great fun!

Finished up with another 3-gun stage using clays, real bowling pins and Jerry Lock’s plate rack. This one gave the shooter a chance to clean up all of his rifle and shotgun mess by using unlimited rounds with the pistol…ammo companies are rejoicing as we speak.

Today’s winners:
Level 1..Jerry Lock(5), Gerald Lambert(6), Dennis Jennings(7)
Level 2…Billy Haynes(3), Jeff Lewis(6), Brian Davis(9), Dick Williams(12)

Next month, Jan. 14th, we’ll start off the new year with a pistol-only match. More details later.
I have no info on our year-end banquet and awards ceremony but I’ll pass that on to you when it becomes available. Also, Jeff Lewis is working on updating the RGC website so be sure to check that out also.

See you soon
