Very light turnout with only five competitors for our first rimfire/only match in quite awhile but still fun for the faithful few attending. First, the match results and then we’ll get to our future plans for the Action matches:
Level 1–Bob Beaver was the only shooter in that group today so he joined in with the Level 2s and did well.
Level 2—Jeff Lewis{4}, Dick Williams{8}, John Kiwacka{13}, Jerry Lock{15}
We Action Shooters in particular, are faced with some difficult decisions about our shooting plans for the foreseeable future. We like to shoot a lot and as you know, ammo, including shotgun shells, is very scarce. When you do find some, the price is out of reason…ditto for most reloading supplies, especially primers.
So what to do? Here’s our proposal for the 2021 Action shooting season:
First, we will hold our matches as usual but allow the use of .22 “or” center fire guns and use the 20% + / – figure to equalize competitors. We will even include “air soft” guns in our February match on a trial basis to introduce shooters to a new affordable tool we can use to maintain our shooting skills.
Second, we will reduce match fees to $10.00 for now with the understanding that doing so may reduce year-end cash and/or trophy awards.
Third, we will delay match start times to 9:30 but still make every effort to finish matches by 1:00 as usual by streamlining scenarios and their set up .
By doing this and other measures as necessary we can weather the current shortages while still maintaining our shooting skills and the fellowship we enjoy with our friends at RGC.
Next month, Feb. 13th, will be a Pistol/Only match. Please plan to come and send us any suggestions or concerns you may have in the meantime. Looking forward to seeing and hearing from you and we’ll be announcing our 2020 match winners shortly.
Stay safe…
